Frequently Asked Questions

Thank you for all your questions via email, comments, and social media. Connecting with you is one of my fave things and I truly love it when you reach out! Here are some of the most frequently asked questions I get about Naturally Sweet Kitchen, myself, and my equipment.

Can I substitute X for Y in this recipe?

My gut instinct is to say no. I work very hard developing and testing my recipes so that they turn out perfectly every time for you, and they will only do that following the ingredients, measurements, and directions I have laid out in the recipe card. If I’ve tested specific substitutions, I will always list them for you in either the text of the blog post or the notes of the recipe card. If you do choose to experiment, be my guest! But I don’t guarantee that it will work.

Can I bake this in a different sized pan?

If I don’t specifically state in the blog post or recipe notes that I’ve tested a recipe in the pan size you’re after, I can’t be 100% certain it will work. If you want to try, I would have a read through this post on converting pan sizes. It’s very comprehensive and I’ve used it before with success!

Can I get the Imperial/American measurements for this recipe?

After baking for 15 years in 3 different countries with varying size volume measuring cups, I now bake exclusively using weight measures. Scales are incredibly accurate and ensure that your bake will turn out successfully every time! A set of kitchen scales are very cheap and will last you a lifetime. I recommend Salter brand (affiliate link). However, if you’re set on converting the measurements, I use this online converter myself and find it’s pretty accurate.

Do you have any [insert diet/ingredient here] recipes?

If I do, they’re already on the blog! Just use the search bar to search for a specific recipe, ingredient, or diet. I also have specific categories for gluten-free and vegan diets in the Recipes drop down menu.

Why didn’t your recipe work for me?

I’m sorry this happened! I’d love to help you troubleshoot what went wrong. The best place to do this is to leave a comment on the blog post explaining exactly what went wrong and any changes you made to the recipe (ie. different baking tin, ingredient substitutions, etc.). I generally respond within 48 hours and will do my best to help you figure it out!

Why don’t you include nutritional information on your recipes?

I don’t provide calorie or carb counts on my recipes intentionally because I encourage intuitive eating and a balanced 80/20 lifestyle over stressing about counting. You can read more about my ethos here. If you’d like to input the information into one of the many online calculators available, of course you’re more than welcome to.

Can I use your photos or recipe on my website, social media, or blog?

Right now I do not allow republication of my posts, recipe text, or images without prior written consent. All content on Naturally Sweet Kitchen is copyrighted. If you would like to share one of my images or recipes, please do get in touch and we can discuss the details.

What type of camera equipment do you use?

I shoot with an old Canon Rebel t5i and a 50mm lens. As of writing this, I shoot exclusively in natural light with some help from foldaway bounce boards and a couple bed sheets. You don’t need a lot to make it work!

Do you have a team/can I work for you?

At the moment it’s just me, Amanda, running the blog with some occasional video assistance from my very supportive partner, Chris. We’re not looking to bring anyone on at the moment, but if that changes, I’ll likely announce it here and on my Instagram!

Do you take recipe requests?

Yes, of course! I’m always interested in what you’d like to bake. Feel free to drop me suggestions in my Instagram DMs or via email.

Do you accept guest posts?

No, not at this time. Please don’t pitch them to me. Your email will be rerouted to the bin.

Do you work with sponsors/brands?

Yes, I do! You can check out my photography and portfolio website here to discover how we can work together.
